Former Benton Community Teacher now Teacher of the Year at Western Illinois

Western Illinois University alumna and Iowa Teacher of the Year Sara Russell recalls the many opportunities to not only learn new concepts and ideas through her courses at WIU, but the interactions with peers she shared from all walks of life.Russell's time at WIU had a profound impact on both her career and her approach to education."While I have always considered myself a life-long learner, my classes at WIU-QC have sparked an ever greater love of learning, and love for the power of education.

51 Nursing Graduates honored at Nursing Pinning Ceremony

 On May 13, Mount Mercy University pinned over 50 nursing graduates at the Nursing Pinning Ceremony.  Graduates Grace Herring '22 and Michael Riches '22 were featured as student speakers at the event. Camryn Foote '22 read a poem she wrote for the nursing class of 2022. Two nursing awards were given out. The Sister Mary Edward McConohy Nursing Award was given to Jada Veasey '22.

Mount Mercy University celebrates Class of 2022 with local graduates

The students listed below graduated from Mount Mercy University this May. Commencement ceremonies were held Sunday, May 15, 2022, at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. For over 90 years, Mount Mercy has grown in size and reputation, adapting to meet the changing educational needs of the Cedar Rapids community. Its 1,600+ students come from around the globe, creating a vibrant, diverse and open-minded campus community.

North Eden Willing Workers Minutes 5/15/22

May 15, 2022The North Eden Willing Workers met at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vinton. The meeting was called to order at 5:05 p.m. and roll call was taken. The secretary and treasurer’s reports were read. Olive’s name was added to the list of members presenting at the April meeting. The club has a balance of $1,508.34. The birthday officer recognized May birthdays.

Anna Bauer Named to Mercy College of Health Sciences President's List

Area Students recognized by Governor Reynolds for Academic Excellence

Governor Adam Gregg for outstanding academic achievement at the 20th Annual Governor’s Scholar Recognition Ceremony on May 1st at Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines.The statewide program, sponsored by the Iowa Governor’s Office, Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) and its title sponsor the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF), honored 419 high school seniors from across Iowa.
